What EU shoppers are asking |

I travel a lot for business and I just don’t understand why every single time I use my Visa card for a hotel, for petrol or for a meal that these places have to pay a high fee that ends up in the pockets of Visa and the banks behind it. Then I learned that some banks generated over 2.5 billion Euro income from credit card interest payments alone in 2005. I tell you, I’m in the wrong line of work, by the sound of it. And it was news to me that the air miles and other ‘free gifts’ cardholders get from Visa and MasterCard are not free. It’s false advertising because I end up paying for these with every purchase – often even if I don’t pay with a card.
